The California Redwood Chorale, directed by Robert Hazelrigg, is a 50-voice choir that is based in the Bay Area. We enjoy creating “Music Diplomacy” by singing in other countries. In June, we will be taking our 6th trip in 8 years. We are returning to Hungary for the third time and will join for the second time with the Monteverdi Chorus of Budapest. This great Hungarian chorus will also be singing with us in Vienna. Both choirs are excited to be seeing each other again.
During our April concert series, we will perform the music we are taking on this journey. The featured work is John Rutter’s sublime “Requiem”, with piano, cello, and oboe. Additional repertoire includes American and film music such as: “Cindy” for double choir and 4-hand piano, “Gabriel’s Oboe” from the film “The Mission”, “Joshua Fit the Battle of Jericho”, “Wade in the Water”, and a special appearance by the 8-member singing sensation, the Tangents.
Tickets are in advance at BrownPaperTickets.com (California Redwood Chorale) or at the door. $20

We loved our week in Puerto Rico.
The Conservatory of Music in San Juan, Puerto Rico is an elegant and new state-or-the-art music school. We had a music workshop in the morning from the reknowned Willie Rivera, who serves on the faculty and also directs a very accomplished choir called Ars Vocalis. That evening, we gave a joint concert with Ars Vocalis in the the Conservatory concert hall. Both choirs celebrated by having a delicious dinner together after the concert. More spontaneous singing after dinner!!
